History of the Perfect Axe

Return of an Icon: That is the only way to describe the revival of the Perfect Axe.
A symbol of American Axe history. The Perfect Axe is distinguished by its iconic bevels, or "cheeks", layered into the steel and first produced by William Kelly. The Perfect Axe is only the beginning of a long journey to create America's Best axes.
About
Vintage poster design I've made for a historic American handtool company Warwood Tool. They are exists since 1864. The whole process was like a timetravel back to the past.

The goal was to make a vintage 'Poster' look, and because I really like history and historical objects/tools, it was really a pleasure to read all the informations how the tool was used during collected the informations before start to draw.

Based on these a picture came to my mind with a log house in a forest, where the american pioneers lived and cut out trees to build their own houses. The reason I used brown shades is, the design can reflects the feeling of the old sepia photos from that time, and gives back the warmth of the wood. The head of the axe came out from the design, because I used here a lighter and colder grey tone, reflecting that the steel is stronger than the wood. The rising sun is a symbol here of the returning iconic handtool which is The Perfect Axe.

Also was a great and proud feeling to working with this nearly 170 years old hand tool company called 'Warwood Tool'.
